The Standing Tall project is a schools domestic abuse prevention programme available for free to schools across Westminster. The project encompasses domestic abuse awareness training for all staff within a school to enable them to feel more confident in recognising and responding to instances of children and young people living with abuse.
The project also includes prevention training with the aim of developing an ongoing relationship with schools (primary, secondary/academies and colleges) to support teachers with the implementation of activities into the curriculum that help to educate children and young people on abusive behaviours and promote healthy relationships and he understanding that abuse is never acceptable.
The staff trainings are active, participatory and discursive and can be delivered as half-day or twilight INSET or staff meetings. The further prevention trainings are aimed at empowering schools to take a whole school approach to addressing domestic abuse with primary school work focusing on friendships, bullying, gender and keeping safe, and secondary/college work focusing on the similar themes, plus teen partner abuse and conflict resolution.
